From Student to Solicitor: Starting My Legal Career

My journey at Lux Family Law began fairly recently in October 2024 as a paralegal.
My academic journey began at Cardiff University, where I pursued a degree in law. My time at Cardiff University was both challenging and immensely rewarding, providing me with a solid foundation of legal knowledge as well as establishing my keen interest in family law.
When I graduated in July 2024, I had no idea where I would find myself in the world of work. However, in October 2024, I secured my first legal, and first full-time job at Lux Family Law. Despite my journey here at Lux having only just begun, it has been incredibly exciting and has allowed me to broaden my legal knowledge and skills every single day.
Transitioning from student life to a professional career was incredibly daunting, especially in what to me is a ‘big city’ compared to where I’m from in Dorset. However, the team here at Lux have opened me with welcome arms and their support has aided me in adapting to the fast-paced environment of a law firm.
I play a crucial role in supporting our solicitors here at Lux and assist with case management across all areas of family law, including finance and children matters. I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of cases, each with its own unique complexities. The most rewarding aspect of my job is seeing the positive impact that our work has and knowing that I contribute to these positive outcomes is incredibly satisfying.
The supportive environment at Lux has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally and looking ahead, I am excited about the future here at Lux where I am committed to continuing my professional development.
